There is play of words in the name of work: hamsa - is a local spiritual amulet for protection, hamsin - is a local natural disaster, so meet me in the middle. Keychains have symbolic meanings of looking keys for the new land.
The work presents one of a series of digital collages in which the artist combines her self-portrait and photographs of the characteristic textures of Israel, reflecting the refraction of her own identity and personal history in the context of life in a new country.
You can find there fragments of Garden of Gethsemane, Dead Sea, abandoned pomegranate garden in the North, burned wood from the South, Yiddish library, Church of the Holy Sepulcher…
This work were developed as a result of participation in Maagolim project for newcomer artist in Israel by Tatarbutmeloga with incredibly inspiring Meital Katz-Minerbo.
